Rent & Payments
How your rent is set
In public housing, rent is usually based on your household income, generally 30 percent of your adjusted monthly income. You may also choose a flat rent when you recertify. Your rent is reviewed at your annual recertification.
When rent is due
- Rent is due on the 1st of each month and is late after the 7th.
- A $10.00 late charge applies to rent not received within the first 7 days of the month.
- Three late payments within 12 months count as repeated late payment, which is grounds for ending the lease.
- Other charges, such as repairs beyond normal wear and tear or excess utility use, are due 14 days after you receive written notice of them.
- The minimum rent is $25.00. If you cannot pay it because of a hardship, ask for a hardship exemption in writing before your rent is late.
See the Dwelling Lease (on the ACOP & Policies page) (Part I, Sections B and C, and Part II, Section 5).

You must report any change in household income or members within 10 calendar days. Late reporting can result in a retroactive rent charge.
